چکیده

The contributions from Biacore technology continue to have a widening impact on all aspects of the drug discovery process in today’s pharmaceutical industry. As biosensor technology became a practical reality in the laboratory during the early 1990s, it was readily accepted by the scientific community as a powerful analytical technique for evaluating the kinetic parameters of molecular interactions, such as protein-protein and protein-nucleic acid. Where historically such measurements were made indirectly or by chemically modifying one or all of the interactants, thus introducing the potential for altering the natural kinetic characteristics of the interactants, a technique is now available that can measure these parameters less intrusively. And, where drug design/discovery relies on understanding structure-function relationships between biomolecules, results from Biacore systems complement structural studies with detailed kinetic data utilizing relatively fast methodologies and consuming small amounts of precious reagents. Stay on track in drug discovery Growing impact of Biacore on drug discovery

MCHITS: Monte Carlo based Method for Hyperlink Induced Topic Search on Networks

Hyperlink Induced Topic Search (HITS) is the most authoritative and most widely used personalized ranking algorithm on networks. The HITS algorithm ranks nodes on networks according to power iteration, and has high complexity of computation. This paper models the HITS algorithm with the Monte Carlo method, and proposes Monte Carlo based algorithms for the HITS computation. Theoretical analysis ...

Unveiling new biological relationships using shared hits of chemical screening assay pairs

MOTIVATION Although the integration and analysis of the activity of small molecules across multiple chemical screens is a common approach to determine the specificity and toxicity of hits, the suitability of these approaches to reveal novel biological information is less explored. Here, we test the hypothesis that assays sharing selective hits are biologically related. RESULTS We annotated th...

Effects of Traffic Reshaping on Distributed Video-on-Demand Systems

In this paper we analyze the effect of reshaping traffic using various network service disciplines on Videoon-Demand (VoD) applications. Using a client centric approach we develop a methodology based on a realtime producer-consumer framework. We present an anlytical model of client buffer requirements in presence of network delay bounds and delay jitter bounds. We show through numerical analysi...

Analysis of Roll Wear in Reshaping Using Finite Element Simulation

Reshaping process is a widely used method for producing tubes with non-circular cross sections. Owing to the friction between pipe and rolls, initial round pipe moves forward and consequently, it gradually formed into square or rectangular one. In practice, geometric profile of the rolls will be changed after a while. These changes would be detrimental the production of faultless products. Ther...

Pharmacophore Based Virtual Screening Approach to Identify Selective PDE4B Inhibitors

Phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4) has been established as a promising target in asthma andchronic obstructive pulmonary disease. PDE4B subtype selective inhibitors are known toreduce the dose limiting adverse effect associated with non-selective PDE4B inhibitors. Thismakes the development of PDE4B subtype selective inhibitors a desirable research goal. Toachieve this goal, ligand based pharmacophore m...
